Goal / Expected Outcomes

The believer will:

  • Recognize the warning signs of burnout.

  • Accept God's invitation to rest.

  • Trust God's provision.

  • Listen for God's voice.

  • Return to God's calling with renewed strength.

  • Remember they are never alone.

Interventions

Intervention #1: Recognize Your Limits

Study Scripture

  • 1 Kings 19:3-5

  • Psalm 23

Action

Acknowledge physical, emotional, and spiritual exhaustion before it becomes overwhelming.

Reflection

  • What symptoms of burnout am I ignoring?

  • Have I confused faithfulness with never resting?

Intervention #2: Receive God's Care

Study Scripture

  • 1 Kings 19:5-8

  • Matthew 11:28-30

Action

Allow yourself to receive God's provision through rest, nourishment, and His presence.

Reflection

  • Am I allowing God to care for me?

  • What practical step of rest do I need this week?

Intervention #3: Listen for God's Voice

Study Scripture

  • 1 Kings 19:11-13

  • John 10:27

Action

Create intentional moments of quiet before God.

Reflection

  • What distractions keep me from hearing God?

  • Am I listening for God's whisper or only expecting dramatic answers?

Intervention #4: Challenge False Beliefs

Study Scripture

  • 1 Kings 19:14-18

  • Isaiah 40:28-31

Action

Replace fear, isolation, and hopelessness with God's truth.

Reflection

  • What lies has exhaustion caused me to believe?

  • How has God been working even when I couldn't see it?

Intervention #5: Return to Your Calling

Study Scripture

  • 1 Kings 19:15-18

  • Galatians 6:9

Action

Move forward one faithful step at a time, trusting God to sustain your purpose.

Reflection

  • What assignment has God given me today?

  • Am I trusting God's strength more than my own?

Clinical Pearl

Burnout often narrows our perspective, causing us to believe we are alone, our work has no impact, and nothing will ever change. Before God redirected Elijah's mission, He first met Elijah's physical needs, gave him rest, and reminded him of the truth. Restoration began with God's presence—not Elijah's performance.

Additional Study

  • Isaiah 40:28-31

  • Matthew 11:28-30

  • Psalm 46:10

  • 2 Corinthians 12:9-10

Evaluation

□ I recognize signs of burnout in my own life.

□ I understand the importance of biblical rest.

□ I am learning to receive God's care.

□ I can identify lies that exhaustion has caused me to believe.

□ I am listening for God's voice.

□ I am trusting God to renew my strength.
