Anchored Again

1/27/2026

Scripture“The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”Deuteronomy 31:8 (NLT)

Reflection

Sometimes faith doesn’t announce itself loudly.Sometimes it returns quietly—through touch, memory, and stillness.

As I slowed my thoughts in morning prayer, my hand instinctively reached for the cross around my neck. I didn’t plan it. I didn’t think about it. It simply happened. And in that small movement, time collapsed.

That cross carried me back—back to a younger version of myself, a child who wore her first cross with imagination and simple trust. I didn’t have language for theology then. I just knew the Lord was with me. Through difficult moments, through uncertainty, through growing up—I walked with a quiet knowing that I was not alone.

Somewhere along the way, that simplicity faded. Life became heavier. Direction became unclear. The narrow path felt harder to see. For years, faith felt distant—not gone, but harder to touch.

About 3 year ago, I bought another cross. Before that I haven't worn one in years! Wearing it felt both comforting and confusing. It reminded me of God’s provision, even when I didn’t fully understand where He was leading. It became a daily anchor—a way of saying, “I don’t see the whole path, but I trust the One who does.”

And now, when my fingers close around it, I realize something profound:

I was never abandoned.

The Lord did not leave when I wandered. He did not withdraw when I struggled. He did not step away when I lost clarity.

He waited.

That cross is not a symbol of starting over—it is a reminder of being kept. Kept through valleys. Kept through confusion. Kept even when I stepped off the path for a season.

And now, when I touch that cross, it isn’t saying “start over.” It’s saying:

“You’re still Mine.”

“I’ve been here the whole time.”

“Keep walking.”

God’s faithfulness is not fragile. It is patient. It is steady. It endures our wandering and welcomes our return.

To be anchored again is not to go backward—it is to remember who has always gone before us.

Prayer of Anchoring

Lord,

I come back to You again.

Before the noise returns, before the weight settles, before I try to carry what was never mine alone—I pause.

Set my heart straight before You. Quiet my thoughts. Order what feels scattered within me.

If I have rushed ahead, pull me back.If I have grown weary, strengthen me. If I have grown distracted, refocus me.

Help me to serve today not from urgency, not from pressure, not from self-reliance—but from obedience, clarity, and trust.

Anchor me in what is true. Guide my steps. Cover the work of my hands.

I place myself under Your authority again—your time, your decisions, your words, your care.

You are before me. You are with me. You will carry what I cannot.

I rest in You now.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen.
